// Partnership between the City of Leuven and the Department. For many years, the Department of Architecture has focused its thesis- and studiowork on the context of Leuven. Challenges on specific sites and themes on the agenda of the City were subjected to a solid salvo of design experiments, leading to an array of possible solutions. Not rarely student production forms the basis for inspiring discussions in the realm of architecture and urban design, with ideas picked up in policies and strategies for Leuven.

Since 2023, these collaborations have been brought to a next level and formalised in an official partnership between the City and the Department. The LAP research group spearheads in the organisation of workshops, presentations and debates on the basis of best-practice studio work and expertise from academic research and practice. Over the coming years, this collaboration will focus on themes of small-scale urban transformation, heritage and the productive city.
